CAHPStone Conversation with Colin Yu
Colin Yu is a Heritage Planner with the City of Toronto. He holds a BSc specialized in Anthropology from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Heritage and Archaeology from the University of Leicester.
Colin has worked in the heritage industry for over 10 years and currently holds an active research license (R1104) with the Province of Ontario. He proudly serves as the President of the Ontario Association of Heritage Professionals (OAHP).
As a Heritage Planner with the City of Toronto, Colin has worked in the Development and Review team to approve development proposals and has provided professional recommendations to the Toronto Preservation Board. Colin has previously worked on numerous projects dealing with all aspects of Ontario’s cultural heritage. He has completed over a hundred cultural heritage technical reports for development proposals and include Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports, Heritage Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and Archaeological Assessments. Colin has worked on a wide range of cultural heritage resources including; cultural landscapes, institutions, commercial and residential sites as well as infrastructure such as bridges, dams, and highways.
The Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) is a national membership-based organization that serves qualified heritage professionals in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. CAHP establishes standards of practice, shares knowledge about heritage conservation, and supports the involvement of heritage professionals whenever places of heritage value are being identified, preserved, restored and rehabilitated.
